In 2005, Mai completed her Bachelor of Science and Graduate Diploma and Master of Clinical Audiology at Melbourne University. Mai briefly worked as an Audiologist at Australian Hearing whilst completing the Graduate Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Griffith University in Gold Coast, Queensland. From 2010 , Mai has worked as a doctor in various medical centres and hospitals throughout Australia.
Mai and her husband also worked as locum doctors to provide health and emergency services to rural communities and hospitals. In 2014, they settled in South Australia so that Mai could complete her specialist training in General Practice. Mai is also a mother with two young children. Her work interests are: Women’s and Children’s Health, Chronic Disease Management, Mental Health and Refugee and Indigenous Health. Mai would like to do further training in Antenatal Care and Minor Cosmetic procedures. Besides her work interests, Mai enjoys acrylic painting and baby photography.
